SOPA’S WINTER 2025
COMMUNITY PRODUCTION
ABOUT LITTLE WOMEN
Louisa May Alcott’s beloved story of the adventures of the four March sisters is brought to vivid musical life in Little Women. The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters -- Meg, the oldest, a romantic, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and irascible, playful Amy -- live in Concord, Massachusetts with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield. Filled with adventure (both lived and imagined), heartbreak, and a deep sense of hope, the struggle of these “Little Women” to find their own voices mirrors the growing pains of a young America. With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters, and a big-hearted message, Little Women reminds us that “sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.”

AUDITION DETAILS
Please fill out the COMMUNITY THEATER AUDITION FORM no later than 12/9/2024.
For this production, we are asking that you prepare 2 songs. Both a verse and chorus (no more than 90 seconds) of a song of your choice. One song should be from the show and the other song should be from a complimentary musical. These songs should be for the character you most see yourself as. You get to choose the song, the cut and the character you portray. We also ask that you have a back up song available with your back up character choice in case the Artistic Team would like to see more. We also ask that you prepare a 1 minute monologue that falls in line with the character you are auditioning for.
Submit a headshot - This can be a nice cell phone photo of you
Submit a resume - If you have a resume, we ask that you submit it on the audition form
Submit your songs - For this show we ask that you edit and upload your own mp3 song selections that you choose to audition with. YOU MUST SELECT ONE SONG FROM THE SHOW YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR AND ONE SONG NOT FROM THE SHOW. Remember: Song Option #1 is your first character/song choice and Song Option #2 is a song not from the show. NOTE: Longer audition songs are not always better. Be smart and concise and NAIL it! We may stop you before your song cut is over if we have heard enough to make a decision.
Know the show - We will not spend time teaching songs at callbacks.
FOR AUDITIONS: Please wear an outfit that shows you are taking this audition seriously. No pajamas, oversized clothing, hoodies, torn jeans, etc. The Artistic Team does notice. Please do not cosplay or Disneybound style your audition. No giving obvious nods to the character you want to get. This is not professional.
FOR CALLBACKS: Please wear dance clothing (leotards, leggings, sweats, close fitting shirts, etc), dance shoes - bring character shoes with the heel height you plan on wearing for the show. Have your hair pulled back out of your face (Male and Female).

INTERESTED IN BEING A TEAM LEAD?

You will need to train during this Spring 2024 session and then commit to the entire 2024/2025 season. Leads do not need to have students actively participating in order to serve. You are the go to person for your Team. You will need to coordinate your team each show, direct them on the tasks, be available for answering questions and be the go between for the Artistic Teams and the Exec. Artistic Director.
Team Leads are given (1) class tuition each session (Fall, Winter, Spring) to be used for any SOPA Austin class and (1) VIP table to a show date of their choosing (based on availability) as a thank you!
