ABOUT US

WHAT WE DO

~ YOUTH THEATER
SOPA Austin offers youth theater arts training programs that allow students, ages 3 to 19, to grow in all areas of performing arts. Students will complete each session with a better understanding of what it takes to not only be on stage, but how to get a show to opening night and beyond! We believe in offering a space to CREATE, grow, and learn through support and education, where every person has the opportunity to INSPIRE, and we are certain quality will SHINE.

~ COMMUNITY THEATER
Our Community Theater program is starting Winter 2025! Please watch our β€œSEASON” page for more information.

~ LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We believe that everyone is a leader! We will always believe in what is possible, regardless of one's limitations. We work to build up the soul of a person and facilitate growth in the areas that are not shining their brightest. As we continue to grow we will provide opportunities to lead, both on and off the stage.

CREATE

We CREATE space for all to discover and explore the interests, gifts and talents you have been given! Wherever your interests or passions lie, we want to give you the tools and facilitate growth so you are part of creating this amazing community!

INSPIRE

We aim to INSPIRE every person who takes part in our organization. When you walk into our doors, whether student, parent, patron or staff, we want you to feel inspired!

SHINE

We encourage you to SHINE on and off the stage! It truly takes a village when it comes to performing arts. If your interest is sparked, we want to help cultivate the flame! Encouraging everyone to be bold, bright and brilliant!

Let us believe in you so you believe too!

WHAT KIND OF PRODUCTIONS DO WE PERFORM?

We may choose shows that have language, costumes, content or themes that are not faith based or β€œChristian”, but behind the scenes we are keeping our actions in line with the mission.

One of the most iconic and beloved musical theater productions of all time is Les Miserables. The story is riddled with strife, morally compromising content and sorrow, but what shines the brightest is the overall story of redemption, forgiveness and love.

Theater is a powerful tool that can be used to demonstrate many important life lessons. Nearly every show has a beauty and beast moment. We challenge you to look inside the moral of the story and see the beauty that shines through!

ARE WE A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION?

We are not tied to a specific religious organization or denomination. We may pray, encourage through Christ or have Biblical lessons that are based on common struggles. Our staff, students, and patrons are held to a higher moral standard centered around honoring the God we serve. It is through our beliefs that we are able to offer the opportunities we can and invite others to shine along with us.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
WITH US?

ALL are welcome!

There is a beautiful parable (story) in the Bible in which, Jesus, laid aside his garments, poured a basin of water and began washing the feet of others.
This is such a powerful message and one that we feel truly is a guiding light in our mission here at SOPA. We are called to love one another. We want to do that through pouring into the soul of a person. Loving them where they are. Being a safe organization where every single person can come and find a place. We hope to offer opportunities for all abilities as well! Fully accessible theater arts is important to us.

You will be seen. You will be treasured.
You will find your place to shine!

WHAT TYPES OF OPPORTUNITIES DO WE OFFER?

We are growing towards offering classes, camps, workshops and performance opportunities for ALL. Yes, this includes Grandma! We will always offer our youth only program, classes and productions. In the future we will also offer community theater opportunities. This means age appropriate casting in our productions and classes that are specifically for those of all ages. Your support in our time of growth helps us reach our goals more quickly, so we may provide more opportunity to the community!
