SOPA’S SUMMER 2025 PRODUCTION

ABOUT TUCK EVERLASTING
Tuck Everlasting is based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. It tells the story of a family who drink water from a magical spring and become immortal. When they encounter a young girl who lives in their rural New England town, she becomes friends with one of the sons, who soon offers her the secret to everlasting life. She then has to decide if she wants to join her new friends in immortality, or if she will live out her normal life. Tuck Everlasting premiered in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2015 and began playing on Broadway in 2016. Despite closing after only 39 performances, It received positive reviews, especially praising the “dazzling ballet” in the second act. A timeless story of family, loss, friendship, and love, Tuck Everlasting is sure to become a classic favorite.

ROLES IN TUCK EVERLASTING
Winnie Foster – (Female-presenting, pre-teen or teen, vocal range: A3-E5). Winnie is an 11-year-old girl from Treegap, New Hampshire whom the story centers upon. Growing up in a strict household, she longs to discover the world beyond her own backyard and ends up going on the adventure of a lifetime when she meets Jesse and the rest of the Tuck family. Specific age is not important for the casting of Winnie, just that the actor cast must believably be able to play an 11-year-old girl full of excitement, spunk, and wonder. Must be a good mover.
Jesse Tuck – (Male-presenting, teen or young adult, vocal range: F3-C5 ) Jesse is the youngest and most optimistic of the Tuck family at 17. He quickly becomes friends with Winnie, attempting to show her how life can be filled with fun forever. Again, specific age is not important for the casting of Jesse, just the ability to play a fun-loving, cheerful 17-year-old. Must be a good mover.
Angus Tuck – (Male-presenting, 30s-50s, vocal range: E3-B4) Angus is the patriarch of the Tuck family, married to Mae. Along with the other members of the Tuck family, he teaches Winnie about the beauty of living life in all its seasons.
Mae Tuck – (Female-presenting, 30s-50s, vocal range: A3-E5) Mae is the matriarch of the Tuck family, married to Angus. She loves all her boys, and is kind to Winnie.
Miles Tuck – (Male-presenting, 20s-30s, vocal range: F3-C5) Miles is the oldest son of the Tuck family. He has traveled the world, and is much more mature than Jesse.
The Man in the Yellow Suit – (Male-presenting, 40+, vocal range: G3-B4) The Man in the Yellow Suit, who is never given any other name, is the show’s antagonist. He has traveled with the circus most of his life in hopes of finding the Fountain of Youth.
Constable Joe – (Male-presenting, 40+, vocal range: F3-B4) Joe is the town’s law enforcement, and Hugo’s mentor.
Hugo – (Male-presenting, teen or young adult, vocal range: G3-C5) Hugo is a 15-year-old self-starter who assists Joe with the very few investigations that arise in Treegap. Specific age is not important in casting Hugo, only that the actor must be able to play an eager, questionably competent, young investigator. This is a dance heavy role.
Winnie’s Mother – (Female-presenting, 30s-50s, vocal range: A3-E5) Winnie’s protective mother.
Winnie’s Grandmother – (Female-presenting, 50+, vocal range: A3-C#5) Winnie’s grandmother who lives with her and her mom.
Winnie’s Son/Thomas - (Male, Aged 6-11, non vocal, strong dancer” - This role is for Thomas, Miles’ son during “Time” and Winnie’s son during the “The Story of Winnie Foster”.
Ensemble – (Any vocal range, Ages 12+) The ensemble in this show play a variety of roles, including townsfolk, travelers, spirits, carnival workers and patrons. Ensemble will not be the same as FDE. We will cast stronger vocalists in this show.
Feature Dance Ensemble - (Any vocal range, Any age) The FDE will play a pivotal role in the story telling of this production. We are looking for very strong dancers. It is ok if singing takes second to dance for this role. FDE will have separate rehearsals. Must have teenage Winnie, Young Woman Winnie and Older Winnie, Older Hugo, Older Winnie’s Son, etc. Plenty of age variety here.

TUCK EVERLASTING is a Summer Stock production. We will have a strict set of rules for all stages of this show. Auditioners must be age 6+ in order to audition. No one under the age of 6 will be considered. We have very few roles for a Children, as the show is mostly for teen and adults who can hold harmonies and handle the intense storyline and responsibilities of memorizing a show without weekly rehearsals. Since Summer Stock productions are still part of our educational program, you must be prepared to grow and learn as a performer. Though you will not be required to take a class, there will be “homework” to complete on your own this summer and zoom meetings to work thru aspects of the show.
Students cast will pay a mandatory $250.00 Fee upon casting or give an equal monetary donation no later than July 15th, 2025. There will be an additional $250 Production Fee due by August 10th. There will be no additional fees or mandatory ads, ticket sales, parent volunteer hours, etc for this show.
REHEARSALS will be very intensive and few. It is extremely advantageous to already know the materials before auditions and callbacks. Rehearsals are listed in the Rehearsal Schedule Below. There will be MANDATORY rehearsals where ALL students are called starting August.
We will work around conflicts when we are able, so please list any possible conflicts.
Rehearsals will be held at the SOPAC.
Sunday afternoon rehearsals may be called for specific students, mostly students with conflicts, or leads, as needed, students will be notified if extra rehearsals are required. Rehearsals would be on Sunday afternoon/evenings.
Cast will receive a detailed rehearsal calendar shortly after casting. Please list all possibly conflicts in audition form.
Students must attend all rehearsals they are called for unless sick, or they have a listed conflict. Not attending rehearsals that you do not have a listed conflicts form could result in dismissal from scenes or the show. We will not accept conflicts after the show has been cast.

AUDITION DETAILS
Please fill out the SUMMER STOCK AUDITION FORM no later than 7/10/2025
For this production, we are asking that you prepare a verse and chorus (no more than 90 seconds) of a song of your choice from the show. This song should be for the character you most see yourself as. You get to choose the song, the cut and the character you portray. We also ask that you have a back up song available with your back up character choice in case the Artistic Team would like to see more. If you are auditioning for ensemble please choose a song from a similar type of show. Even if you are auditioning for Feature Dance Ensemble we need you to sing an audition song.
Submit a headshot - This can be a nice cell phone photo of you
Submit a resume - If you have a resume, we ask that you submit it on the audition form
Submit your songs - For this show we ask that you edit and upload your own mp3 song selections that you choose to audition with. YOU MUST SELECT SONG CUTS FROM THE SHOW YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR. Remember: Song Option #1 is your first character/song choice and Song Option #1 is your second character/song choice. Please select a cut from the ensemble or Fates if you do not have a certain character you are going for. NOTE: Longer audition songs are not always better. Be smart and concise and NAIL it!
Know the show - We will not spend time teaching songs at callbacks.
FOR AUDITIONS: Please wear an outfit that shows you are taking this audition seriously. No pajamas, oversized clothing, hoodies, torn jeans, etc. The Artistic Team does notice. Please do not cosplay or Disneybound style your audition. No giving obvious nods to the character you want to get. This is not professional.
FOR CALLBACKS: Please wear dance clothing (leotards, leggings, sweats, close fitting shirts, etc), dance shoes - bring jazz shoes. Have your hair pulled back out of your face (Male and Female).
