STORY THRU SONG & SPEECH
(Advanced Vocal and Spoken Word Performance)

ABOUT THE CLASS
This intensive course will focus on the emotional compass behind each song or monologue. The story behind the words is nearly always more important to the song or scene than the pitches or the words themselves. Acting while singing and reciting a monologue is a technique and skill that must be present during every performance.

This course will require students to bring a song/monologue or two or a to the first class. We will dissect the piece in its original form and then use tools to relate it back to our personal experiences. Singing from our scars and not our wounds. How to stay “in the picture” when performing in front of an audience. It is so important to sing on behalf of our audience rather than sing at them.

There will also be some vocal coaching!

This class will be held in a masterclass type setting. It is 63weeks long. Students will receive professional personalized coaching.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Emily Calasopa has been a professional voice and acting coach for the past 17 years. She has certifications in Cabaret (Story Thru Song), SLS, CVT , Estill and is working towards becoming an Estill Master Trainer. Several of the students she has coached have gone on to work at Disney, on Broadway, acted in SAG films and become signed recording artists. Emily fully believes that EVERYONE can sing! You just have to have awareness, listen to yourself and have a great facilitator who believes in you!
