Only students cast as dance ensemble in Newsies will be able to enroll for this class. Please select it as your second class choice, but register for another class prior to auditions. You will be transferred if cast in that role.

ABOUT THE CLASS:
In this class we will be moving fast and learning difficult skills. The goal is to learn quickly and perfect the choreography. We will be focusing on fun leaps, tricks and turns that will be needed for Newsies, our Spring main stage musical. You will need an intermediate dance background to take this class. We are going to be moving at a fast pace with a focus on clean execution. Here you will learn to do exciting new moves with the correct technique to execute the steps. We will also work on strengthening flexibility, memorization, and stamina. In this class we are hoping to also touch on advanced tap choreography as well. If time permits we will be able to explore the tap dance breaks from Newsies. Please wear dance attire and jazz shoes or sneakers. You will also need tap shoes. Everyone needs to have hair up and out of their face.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Staci has been performing since she was 3 years old. Has had the love of musical theater and especially dance for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Houston Tx she studied at Theater Under the Stars. Once she graduated from high school she went to Sam Houston State University where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Theater performance. During her senior year in college she auditioned and made the CSZ Houston Improv Comedy troupe. From there she has been honing in on her improv comedy skills. Along with Improv, dance is one of Staci’s true passions. She is thrilled to be sharing her passions with the next generation of performers!
